A R Rahman, the Indian music maestro bagged two trophies at the 52nd Grammy Awards for his composition in the movie “Slumdog Millionaire”. “The Mozart of Madras”, as he is popularly known, has already won a Golden Globe and two Academy awards for his track “Jai Ho”.

Rahman received the awards for – “best compilation soundtrack for a motion picture” and “best motion picture song”. “This is insane, God great again,” was what 44 year old musician uttered when he received the awards. Rahman beat his rivals Steve Jordan for Cadillac Records, Quentin Tarantino for Inglorious Bustards, the producers of Twilight and True Blood to bag the Grammy for the “best compilation soundtrack for a motion picture” category. In the “best motion picture song” category Rahman’s rivals included Bruce Springsteen for his song “The Wrestler,” from the Oscar-nominated movie of the same name.
Rahman shared his success with lyricist Gulzar, singer Sukhwinder Singh, Tanvi Shah and Vijay Prakash. He also expressed gratitude for his mentors by saying “I would like to thank my mentor Mani Ratnam, Shekhar Kapoor, Subhash Ghai and Andrew Lloyd Webber.”
